Things are set to become explosive this week on Backstage (e.tv, weekdays at 6.30pm) as Duke Ngcobo (Carlo Radebe) is a man with many enemies - and they're all gunning for him.

The murderous, blackmailing, drug dealing, all-round neighbourhood sociopath wants his diamonds back - at any cost.

He strongly suspects the Mzamo family (Zinzi and Duma) know more than they're letting on and instructs bully boy Mike Jennings (David Dukas) to cultivate Zinzi (Tselane Tambo) and find them.

Duke's instincts are correct. Peter Mzamo (Sello Sebotsane), who last had possession of the diamonds - and whose death Duke organised - left a trail of cryptic clues for his wife and son in an elaborate treasure hunt. They will eventually be the owners of a small fortune ... as long as they find the gems first.

Duke's new bride, Katlego (Baby Cele), has fast become disillusioned with, and bitter about, their marriage. Duke physically and emotionally abuses her and she seeks refuge in alcohol.

Duke is getting deeper and deeper into trouble with his corrupt business partner, Moloi, who is pressuring Duke to return his illicit diamonds. To up the stakes, another enemy of Duke re-enters the picture: Venter, who once tried to burn down Duke's bar, and who is now out of prison.

Katlego loses her job and she begs Duke for a divorce. This has her film lecturer colleague and former suitor, Mpumi (Sello Motloung), confronting Duke about his treatment of Katlego. They argue viciously about Katlego's future and the usually mild-mannered Mpumi threatens Duke which, of course, means Duke simply responds in the way he knows best: he pulls his gun on Mpumi.

All this high drama leads to a hostage situation and a classic showdown.

To discover whether Duke finally pays the ultimate price for everything he's done in life, you'll have to tune in and watch.
